I was just thinking about paradigm shifts, inspired by the book The Six Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert. I was wondering if it was possible to predict paradigm shifts in culture, or within certain fields of research, and I came across this a paper that discusses an algorithm that could do so.
This algorithm’s ability to predict paradigm shifts was tested by searching through past scientific literature to predict shifts.
I also thought about the book Change by Damon Centola. I wonder how these two interrelate with each other given the similarities between the two.
Do paradigm shifts follow the same rules that Damon Centola outlines in Change?
Is there a way to use Centola’s advice on affecting to change to increase the rate of acceptance for paradigm shifts?
