Speculating on the Dragon Reborn: Thoughts on The Eye of the World

I’m recording a few thoughts on The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. So, what’s the setting of this? Right now, we’re in the countryside, a small rural town. Overall, I think the book is set in a distant alternate-fantasy world. I don’t recall the name of the country or land where it all takes place, but it’s definitely some kind of alternate world. If I had to guess, I’d say it feels like old England. Anyway, I don’t have too much to say about that at this point.

I’m curious about this dark, mysterious figure that showed up in the town. I’m guessing maybe our protagonist, Pam, or whatever their name is, is supposed to be the Dragon Reborn. That’s my guess. You know, the Dragon is the—well, I don’t know—some sort of supernatural superhero figure that saves them from the Dark One, time and time again. That might answer a question I had last time.

Oh, and also, I think Marlena, or whatever her name is, shows up in the town. I remember she was the wife of the Dragon in the beginning of the book. It’ll be interesting to see where that goes. The boy’s father has this sword he bought one day, just because he thought it was cool or something. And now we see the boy taking a liking to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if later on, he ends up taking the sword and using it for his adventures—maybe slaying beasts or fighting the Dark One or something.

For now, everything’s fine. I’m still interested and curious to see where it goes. That’s it for now.
