There have been stories emerging recently about influences on the quality of sleep. There was one study recently that showed that the vibrations of a car make one susceptible to sleep. Another study showed that rhythmic rocking can induce deep and therefore more quality sleep. What about haircuts putting you to sleep as a child?
Looking at common sleeping apparatuses, we see beds in the homes of most people haven’t evolved much. What is the history of sleep innovation?
How has it evolved over the years?
Most people sleep on a flat surface and probably on a mattress (developed countries). There has probably been little innovation in decades, especially ones that have reached the masses.
Is it possible to develop a mattress that rocks like a hammock? Or a bed that vibrates like a car? Have the research results been verified? What are the potential mechanisms? Synchrony with brain waves? Are there some rhythms that hurt Sleep? What is the spectrum? Do the rhythms vary by person? Can animal models be used to test this?
Do you have any personal experiences attesting to the improved quality of sleep in a hammock versus a traditional mattress?
